Even stripes (I know it may sound insane) I did it with mine to make it look like a cute tile- we had same issue with it looking like a big blob in the room when it was one color. Yours obviously has much more special architectural features… but could be interesting!

The room has a feeling of being a bit rigid. I think some loosening needs to happen. As an artist, I’d say you might be too worried about making mistakes? It can choke us up! More pattern and repetition and old stuff over these lovely bones. Pattern on the drapes? More plants, flowers, books? More personalization–more YOU? More femininity to balance the powerful sofas and the mathematical precision? If your husband doesn’t like it, try a hard “no” right back at him?

This room already has a large live edge slabs as the coffee table. I don’t see adding another live edge slab in one room.

If the wallpaper is low contrast it wouldn’t have to feel that way. I’ve been in favor of seeing wallpaper as part of this room since the beginning. Something along the lines of a Morris and Co. Oak and Blossom or Marigold or Apple in blues/greens would be lovely and bring in more of a mid-tone but subtle. Pics below.
