Thank you Jess! This is such a great collection of ideas and solutions for a lot of *very* relatable storage issues :) I especially struggle with shoe storage.. where do you guys keep them? Is seasonal rotation (with a small entryway cabinet) the best way to go, or is it better to have them all in one place? My smaller cabinet is always overflowing, and I seem to forget about the pairs in storage I can’t seem to keep them organised and accessible at the same time.. curious to hear from others!

Great inspiration for some DIY options and scouring Goodwill, garage sales, and Facebook Marketplace as some of the pieces for such basic items are absurd. I’m also always amazed at how many storage items are still plastic.

I had never considered pantry organization before I started reading this blog but now I’m all about it! I decant my cereal, flours and sugars, etc. I also used it to reorganize my little rolling cart and under sink cabinet in the kitchen. So satisfying and helpful to my stress level.

In reply to LKB. Does the pantry have doors? Do the "batwing pantry" thing -- shallow shelves and then shelves/racks on the doors. StarCraft Custom Builders has a fantastic post about pantry design with good guidelines.

In reply to LKB. I have a deep pantry too. I use the large multipurpose bins from the Container Store to corral boxed items like pasta. And Youcopia makes these rollout fridge and pantry drawers that are awesome. They have little wheels on the back and are study enough to hold canned goods. I can easily pull them out to access the back of the pantry, where I stash bulk items like chicken stock and dried beans. At one point I thought about trying to install pullout shelves in my pantry, but I actually have more storage space with regular shelves and these bins!

Agree, I needed this list! I’ve been eyeing my bathroom ~~disasters~~ cabinets and need to figure out how to organize them. I’m dubious that all of my crap will fit in those cute little shelving organizers, but it’s time to try.

I’m also stumped by my pantry, which is basically a normal closet. I get how to organize food on 12″ shelves, but alas, my pantry is like 2.5′ wide and 2′ deep. Bins are better than nothing, but we still lose things in the depths, and it’s hard to find the specific canned food you want. Any suggestions for that? Maybe I just need a lot of risers…?
