Yes to boxes as organizing tools! I have some I covered in contact paper 10 years ago and they’re still going strong. It’s not always the solution, but it’s worth adding to the mix. Thanks for these other suggestions, too.

Thanks for this post, this is the way to go! 99% of us have too much stuff (myself included) and I don’t want to buy more stuff to deal with stuff. Of course one cannot ever have enough shelves and a bunch of baskets or boxes, cardboard or plastic (I see you, reader who left the “creepy crawlies” comment) comes in really handy, but I thought a lot of the solutions from the previous post were quite superfluous (the polyester sheet organisers or acrylic shelf dividers… just purge and fold nicely? Also, these will be thrown out at some point and will contribute to the microplastic pollution – y’all know that these days microplastics are found even in breast milk?). So here’s to more re-use and upcycling and buying less stuff in general!
