Shout out to storage benches as the perfect “stealth file cabinet” for those of us without a dedicated office space! Just check the measurements to make sure they are file-sized and add some hanging file holder frames, and you won’t need an ugly file cabinet anymore. Mine lives at the end of my bed and blends right in.

Do you have recommendations to look for narrow-width shoe cabinets? I have a nook next to my front door that could fit something 22″x12″ or less than that, but everything I find is at least 24″. Also open to other non-traditional ideas – I just need something to get the shoe clutter out of my living room.

You cannot go wrong with Waterhog mats (the “Weather-Proof Mats” shown). They soak up rain, mud, snow, etc., and leaves and sand cling to them instead of your floors. We’ve tried other, more design-y rugs, but we always come back to Waterhogs. They’re heavy, so they don’t slide around, and they hold up to hosing off when in need of cleaning. We have them inside and outside every entrance of our house. 10/10
