Our journey started with SI foods (Ready to cook idly/Dosa batter) which is Alberta’s first licensed retail batter product available in all Indian groceries of Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon .With the huge success of our product running successfully in market since 2015, our beloved community friends encouraged to start the restaurant too. We also started Alberta’s first pure vegetarian south Indian restaurant with all blessings. It served more customers from Canadian, Gujarati, Punjabi community apart from south Indians as the pure vegetarian options are also vegan and gluten free. Thanks to our customers who made us stand here today with all their valuable feedback in improving our service. With this extended support, now in August 2017, we announced to start non vegetarian food to cover all food lovers around the city with new name of SI foods -SUPREME DOSA also with licensed liquor services & beautiful interiors with traditional backdrop. From formal parties, official meetings, family outings to casual eating out plan or your serious tryst with tantalizing flavors, you get to experience it all! Our restaurant gives a variety of options to food lovers by the ongoing weekend buffet with unlimited Dosa and many weekday deals.
Chef Manivannan P(Mani) comes from Hosur, Tamil Nadu, India. He has done Diploma in hotel management & catering technology in ASAN College of hotel management, Chennai, Tamil Nadu which is equivalent to IQAS in Canada. He has around 15 years of culinary experience and has worked in the most prestigious hotels in India, like The Taj group of hotels & Fortune (Welcome groups of hotels). He started his career in India and worked for the great legend and freedom of the sea, Royal Caribbean cruise line as Sous chef. He has also worked in USA and Canada, which gave him an opportunity to acquire international culinary experience. He has successfully represented his company and country in food competitions. As a fruit & vegetable carver at 5-star hotels, he brings in a great talent and creativity to the table with his knowledge in different types of cuisines. With the huge success of SI foods(Ready to cook idly/Dosa batter) , he became ambitious to achieve his dream to start the restaurant. All food is made of home blended spices to maintain real authentic flavor in south Indian and Srilankan cooking. Also he can make any fruit platters for special occasions. The authentic style of cooking techniques will be a great asset to promote the restaurant to maintain the real flavor of South Indian and Srilankan spices.
